DIAMONDBACKS SEASON ENDS IN 2-1 LOSS

DEAVER ON THE MOUND FOR THE DIAMONDBACKS AND KEVIN TYSINGER FOR THE
BRIDGEWATER REDS. BOTH PITCHERS THREW AN EXCELLENT GAME WITH THE REDS
COMING OUT WITH THE WIN. DEAVER ONLY ALLOWED 4 HITS WHILE STRIKING OUT 2
AND HAD 1 WALK. TYSINGER ONLY ALLOWED 3 HITS, STRUCK OUT 4 AND WALKED 2.
HE HAD A NO HITTER GOING UNTIL THE TOP OF THE SEVENTH WHEN THIRD BASEMAN,
BRIAN BIRKHEAD SINGLED BETWEEN 3RD. AND SHORT. THE OTHER TWO HITS GAME
FROM BUCK BIRKHEAD AND SHELTON STEVENS. THE DIAMONDBACKS WANT TO THANK ALL THE FANS THAT SUPPORTED THEM THIS YEAR AND HOPE TO SEE YOU BACK AT THE DIAMOND CLUB FIELD NEXT SEASON.

BRIDGEWATER DOWNS DIAMONDBACKS IN GAME 1

The Bridgewater Reds took game 1 of the best 2 out of 3 against the
Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks with a score of 9-4. Reds pitcher, Chance
Dobbs, pitched a 4 hitter while striking out 10 batters. Brandon Zollman, Buck Birkhead, Brian Sandridge and Zach Goodyear each got a hit for the Draft. They will travel to Bridgewater tomorrow for game 2, and if they win will be back at the Diamond Club Thursday.

SANDRIDGE SMACKS SOLO SHOT TO WIN

Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks pitcher, Seth Berry, had only given up 3 hits to the Bridgewater Reds going into the bottom of the seventh with Draft leading 5-2 when the rains came. After about a 30 minute rain delay Bridgewater tied the game with 3 runs off Berry who had pitched an outstanding game. Draft could only muster one hit by Drew Dobbins in the eighth who went 2-4 on the night, but centerfielder, Brian Sandridge, proved to be the hero in the top of the tenth with his solo shot to left center while going 4-5 with 2 other RBI's. Brandon Zollman came in to pitch for the Diamondbacks and completely shut down the Reds over the next 3 innings allowing no hits and striking out 4. Buck Birkhead went 3-5 with 2 RBI's and Trip Kiser also had 2 RBI's in the 7-5 win that moves Draft into second place with a record of 18-8. The Diamondbacks will be back in action Friday night as they travel to play first place CLover Hill Bucks with a record of 18-7.


DIAMONDBACKS SHUT OUT SHOCKERS

Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks pitcher, Randall Stevens, threw another 5
innings of shutout ball Monday night against the New Market Shockers
allowing only 2 hits, striking out 3 and walking none. Brian Birkhead
pitched the 6th. and Seth Berry closed in the 7th. both allowing no hits
while the Diamondback offense continued their hitting onslaught having 19 hits with 14 runs scored. Leading the way once again for Stuarts Draft was shortstop, Shelton Stevens, going 5-5 with 5 runs scored and 4 RBI's. Brandon Zollman went 4-4 with 3 runs and 2 RBI's. J.R. Estes and Brian Sandridge had 3 hits with 2 RBI's and Estes scored 2 runs. Draft is now 17-8 with this win and is tied for second place with the Elkton Blue Sox. They will travel to Clover Hill Friday night to face the first place Bucks and on the road again Saturday to Montezuma as they finish up their regular season.


Hot-hitting Diamondbacks rout Indians

SHENANDOAH — Randall Stevens shut out the Shenandoah Indians for six innings Wednesday night, helping the Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks to a 12-1 victory in Rockingham County Baseball League play. Shenandoah hitters managed just five hits and two walks off Stevens, who struck out five. Stuarts Draft's offense, meanwhile, found its stroke. The Diamondbacks ripped Shenandoah pitching for 18 hits.
Draft's Shelton Stevens went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three runs batted in, while Brian Sandridge was 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI. Trip Kiser, Mark Balderson, Robbie Cook and Zach Goodyear each smacked two hits. Kiser and Goodyear each drove in two runs.
With the victory, the Diamondbacks improve their record to 15-8. They host a 7:30 p.m. Saturday return match with the Indians at Diamond Club.


DIAMONDBACK BATS COME ALIVE WITH 12-1 WIN

Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks pitcher, Randall Stevens, threw 6 innings of shutout ball against the Shenandoah Indians Wednesday night. He only allowed 5 hits, issued 2 walks and had 5 strikeouts. Draft scored 12 runs off 18 hits. Leading the way was Shelton Stevens who went 4-5 with 3 runs scored and 3 rbi's. Brian Sandridge also scored 3 runs and had a rbi while going 3-5. Trip Kiser was 2-3 with 2 rbi's and Mark Balderson, Robbie
Cook, and Zach Goodyear all went 2-4. The Diamonbacks are now 15-8 and will be back in action Saturday night as they host the Indians.

DIAMONDBACKS FALL 5-4

Stuarts Draft - The Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks fell to the Bridgewater Reds Tuesday night in county league action losing 5-4. The Reds only allowed 4 runs off 5 hits and had 10 strikeouts. Buck Birkhead led the Draft going 2-3 and scored a run. The Draft is now in 3rd. place with a record of 14-8. Their next home game will be Saturday as they host Shenandoah.

DRAFT WINS 5-4

Stuarts Draft - The Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks rebounded against Clover Hill beating them 5-4 Sunday night improving their record to 14-7 tying them for second place with the Bucks after a tough loss last week to Elkton where they dropped from 1st. to 3rd. place. The Draft was led by Brandon Zollman who went 2-4 with 2 runs scored. Drew Dobbins allowed 2 hits that led to 2 runs in the top of the first inning but held the Bucks scoreless through the fifth. Draft tied the score 2-2 in the 4th when Brian Sandridge walked, stole second, moved to 3rd. on a deep fly out to centerfield by Shelton Stevens and scored on a single by Seth Berry. Then in the 5th. Draft went ahead 4-2 with back to back singles from Zollman, Robbie Cook and Buck Birkhead. Draft's final run was scored in the 6th. inning off a single by Josh Deaver who scored off a deep hit ball to right center by Mark Balderson. Clover Hill threatened once again in the 7th. with a solo homerun by Brooks Cullen and again in the eighth scoring once more but Draft held on for the victory. They will host the Bidgewater Reds Tuesday night. 1ST. PLACE DIAMONDBACKS LOSE TO ELKTON IN BOTTOM OF NINTH

Elkton: Josh Deaver only allowed 4 hits and had a shutout going until the bottom of the 9th. Randall Stevens came in to close for the Diamondbacks and issued a walk to John Gira. Elkton's next batter, Sam Lebeau singled, and with 2 on Tyler Campbell sent a hard line shot to left center to win the game 2-1. Draft had only scored one run off of Elkton's Andy Cave which came from back to back doubles from Brandon Zollman and Robbie Cook in the fifth. Cave only allowed 4 hits and had 14 strikeouts in his 8 innings of work. Draft was led by Brian Sandridge who went 2-4 with 2 doubles. The Diamondbacks are now 13-7 on the season and will host the Bridgewater Reds Friday night.


DIAMONDBACKS BEAT BRUINS 8-4

After having their last two games cancelled because of the wet weather, the Diamonbacks took the field only to have the Broadway Bruins jump out to score 2 runs off a double from Brad Hayes in the top of the first but they battled back and got one run back in the bottom of the first with leadoff batter Brandon Zollman walking and stealing second. Then their shortstop Shelton Stevens hit a hard shot up the middle scoring Zollman. The Bruins were held scoreless for the next 4 innings by Drew Dobbins. Draft went ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the third with RBI singles from Seth Berry and Trip Kiser. Then in the fifth draft's rightfielder, Mark Balderson hit a 3 run homerun to put the Diamondbacks ahead to stay. Broadway scored twice more, once off a solo homerun by Kyle Walling in the 7th and another run scored in the 8th. The Draft was led by Stevens who went 4-5 with 2 RBI's and a run scored. Zach Goodyear went 2-4 with a run scored. The Diamondbacks next game will be Wednesday, July 5 when they host the New Market Shockers.


DEAVER SCALPS INDIANS 9-1

Stuarts Draft Diamondback pitcher, Josh Deaver, threw 8 strong innings against the Shenandoah Indians in the Rockingham County Baseball League tonight only allowing 1 run, giving up 4 hits, walking 3, and striking out 12 batters. Brandon Zollman pitched the last inning allowing no hits, walked 2 and struck out 3. The draft combined for a total of 15 hits with Seth Berry leading the team going 3-5 with a RBI and 3 runs scored. Buck Birkhead also had 3 hits. J.R. Estes went 2-3 with a run scored. Brian Sandridge and Randall Stevens also added 2 hits each. Come follow your Diamondbacks this weekend as they travel to face the Clover Hill Bucks Saturday night.


TRUXELL PITCHES 4-0 SHUTOUT

Former Lee High School lefty and standout, Tyler Truxell, of the Clover Hill Bucks pitched a complete game shutout against the Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks in the Rockingham County League Wednesday night before a home crowd of 250. He only gave up 5 hits,struck out 9 and walked one batter.
The Bucks were led by Addison Bowman who went 2-4  which included a double and a homerun, with a RBI and a run scored. Jason Griffin also had 2 hits and a RBI for the Bucks. The Diamonbacks will travel Saturday night toface CLover Hill once again and will play in New Market on the 28th. They will return home on Thursday, the 29th. to host the Broadway Bruins.


-- BIRKHEAD'S BLAST BEATS BRAVES

Behind the stong pitching of starter Evan Durrer and 1 swing of the bat the Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks beat the Montezuma Braves in county league baseball tonight 1-0. Durrer pitched 7 innings allowing only 5 hits, walking none and striking out 6 for the Draft. Randall Stevens came in to close in the final two innings allowing only 1 hit. Birkhead's solo shot to right centerfield came in the 6th. inning and Brandon Zollman lead the Diamondbacks with 2 hits. They will host Clover Hill tomorrow night and travel to Shenandoah Thursday.

8TH. INNING HOMERUN LIFTS THE DIAMONDBACKS OVER THE MONTEZUMA BRAVES 4-2

The Montezuma Braves took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third off a homerun from centerfielder, Zach Foltz. Then in the bottom of the third the Diamondback's rightfielder, Mark Balderson, was hit by a pitch and later scored on a ball hit deep to right center by shortstop Shelton Stevens.
The game stayed tied until the top of the eigth when the Braves second baseman, Preston Miller doubled and advanced to third on a goundout. Miller had rounded third and with an attempted throw to catch him off the ball sailed over the third baseman's head and he scored on the error giving Montezuma a 2-1 lead. Then in the bottom of the eigth Stevens led off with a double bringing J.R. Estes to the plate. The Braves decided not to pitch to Estes and put him on to get to centerfielder Brian Sandridge. Sandridge blasted a 3 run RBI homerun over the right centerfield fence.
Shelton Stevens led the draft going 3-4 with a rbi and a run scored. Buck Birckhead, Robbie Cook and Trip Kiser each had 2 hits for the Diamonbacks.
They will travel to Bridgewater Saturday, on the road to Montezuma for a make-up game on Tuesday the 20th. and back home to host the Clover Hill Bucks on Wednesday, the 21st.

BROADWAY — Stuarts Draft rode the strong pitching of Josh Deaver to a 5-1 victory Saturday night over the Broadway Bruins in Rockingham County Baseball League action.


STUARTS DRAFT — New Market broke a 2-2 deadlock during the eighth inning Wednesday night as the Shockers defeated the Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks 5-2 in Rockingham County Baseball League play.


CLOVER HILL — The Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks suffered another road loss Sunday night, 8-3, to the Clover Hill Bucks in Rockingham County Baseball league play.


ELKTON — Elkton's Trevor Knight recorded 13 strikeouts in six innings of work Saturday night to lead the Blue Sox over the Stuarts Draft Diamondbacks 7-1 in Rockingham County Baseball League play.


STUARTS DRAFT — Brian Sandridge's solo home run accounted for Stuarts Draft's lone run Tuesday as the Diamondbacks suffered a 6-1 defeat to Elkton in the Rockingham County Baseball League.
